On October 17, we celebrated 8 incredible years of empowering creators from every industry and I was delighted to be a guest and share my experiences of using Be.LIVE for 7 years. This livestream brought together educators, entertainers, business leaders, and more to share their inspiring stories and explore how livestreaming has transformed their content. The event highlighted the creative power of Be.Live, offering not just stories but also engaging games, interactive activities, and exciting giveaways. It was an unforgettable celebration of creativity and community, where everyone had the chance to win big and bring their creative energy to this special birthday event!
"We had an incredible evening filled with both entertainment and enlightenment! The keynote speech by Rev. Paul Anderson and the hosting by Camille Kauer set the perfect tone for the night. The performances by Hampton University Terpsichorean Dance Co., Chuckey Robinson & C.E.R.J.E.R.Y, Pure Life Theatre Company, Ruby Prescott, and the special presentation by Kenia Thompson were simply breathtaking. The community resource fair was informative and valuable, with organizations like Advance Community Health and American Cancer Society providing essential services. The art & crafts zone was a fun addition for all ages, and the food trucks added to the festive atmosphere. Overall, it was a classy yet casual event that celebrated the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in a family-friendly setting. We can't wait for next year's Dreamfest!"
-Olivia Gatewood
"As I was leaving the Arts Center after the MLK Dreamfest, I, like many others, thanked you for organizing a wonderful program. This note is simply to affirm how much I appreciated theexcellence and power of all those who offered their art in tribute to Rev. KIng and the values and ideals of the Civil Rights Movement. The disparate parts of the program flowed together smoothly because of the skill, style and humor of the Mistress of Ceremonies, who made the introductions and transitions as interesting as the performances. There was not a lull or a dull moment. I can only imagine the time and work that you invested in organizing Dreamfest. This note is just to say, again, THANK YOU."

Rydhima Brar grew up in Kuwait, where her childhood was filled with breathtaking design & architecture, helping out with her father’s construction business. In 1990, the effects of the Gulf War drew Rydhima and her family to leave their home in the cover of night for another country. Returning to Kuwait after the war, I experienced the rebuilding of our home, and the rebirth of a nation. As her father then rebuilt his business, she helped him organize his building materials and sample libraries, always complaining but secretly loving every minute of it.
As a young adult, she then took to New York City to begin a career in Business and Finance, yet her love for design never left her. After several years, it was a move to L.A. that sparked the next evolution for her career, now shifting toward design, a transition that was gradual yet inevitable. Starting with her own condo, she rediscovered her love for an approachable + functional + luxe aesthetic, using bold color and unique pieces throughout. Friends were impressed with the result and Rydhima then began to help design their spaces.
A few projects later, she found herself fully immersed in the world of professional design, where she felt she belonged. She then balanced going back to school while working on projects, and the pages of the new chapter were filling with new experiences and challenges, which eventually led to the most recent chapter, the brith of her own business, R/terior Studio.

Join us at Dallas Market for The Kalediscope Project day at Dallas Market, Sept 20, 2021.
We acknowledge that the Black and Jewish communities have a shared history of subjugation and persecution.
We recognize that the Black community in America has faced a history of racism that continues to this day, while the Jewish community is currently encountering record levels of antisemitism, which affects both group’s sense of fear, vulnerability, and self-worth.
As members of the entertainment community, we pledge to work to bring our two communities together in solidarity, to support one another in our struggles, and to better understand each other’s plight and narratives.
The Jewish community must continue to speak out against racial injustice and work to effect change, while the Black community must continue to speak out against all forms of antisemitism.
In the spirit of Martin Luther King Jr., Rabbi Abraham Heschel, and the many Blacks and Jews who stood together in the fight for civil rights, we come together to support each other in the struggle against hatred and bigotry.
In the words of the late John Lewis, “We are one people, one family, the human family, and what affects one of us affects us all.”
The Black-Jewish Entertainment Alliance is being launched to bring the two communities together in solidarity, to support each other in their struggles, and to better understand each other’s plight and narratives.
The Black and Jewish communities in America have long stood together, from co-founding the NAACP, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), and the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), to partaking in great numbers in the Freedom Rides and Freedom Summer, to marching and standing with Dr. King.
In the face of a climate dealing with historic racism, rising antisemitism, and societal turmoil, it is critical that we continue to stand and support one another, and that starts with a showing of unity through the release of the statement below.
We hope that you will add your name as signatory in support along with many of your colleagues from the entertainment community.
Each Wednesday a new topic to move the needle forward and bridge our two communities.
"More than 170 Black and Jewish entertainers, including Billy Porter, Sharon Osbourne, Mayim Bialik and Tiffany Haddish, are joining forces to combat racismand anti-Semitism.
The new organization, Black-Jewish Entertainment Alliance (BJEA), launched Monday – the first day of Black History Month – as institutional racism and anti-Semitism remain rampant.
BJEA is releasing a unity statement as part of its launch, which will run in full-page ads in industry publications Variety and Billboard this week."
